As we contemplate how Jesus lived, we learn how we are to live - truly live - sharing Jesus' vision, love, hope, feelings, and habits.
Nothing is more striking in Jesus' life than the intimate union He shared with His Father. And prayer is one of the most consistent ways we see this intimacy expressed in Jesus' life. From early morning lonely places, to healing on the streets, to teaching His apprentices, to beads of sweat like blood - an entire life of prayer.
We offer the following as an invitation to daily prayer. These prayers have been chosen to shape our praying around the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) and of others throughout the history of the Church. Use them daily, or as needed. You could use them as morning and night prayers along with the provided Daily Examen. And you might supplement with meditation on the suggested Scriptures.
Our prayer is that, together, we would pattern our lives after His, not in some slavish or literal fashion but by enjoying intimate union with Christ and catching the spirit and power by which Jesus lived.
