Some say John Wesley isn’t as quotable as some church leaders but here are 7 great (and much loved) quotes attributed to him.

“We should be rigorous in judging ourselves and gracious in judging others.”

“What one generation tolerates, the next generation will embrace.”

“Earn all you can, give all you can, save all you can” and also: “Not, how much of my money will I give to God, but, how much of God’s money will I keep for myself?”

“Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin, and desire nothing but God, and I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen; such alone will shake the gates of hell and set up the kingdom of heaven on Earth.”

“Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.”

“Light yourself on fire with passion and people will come from miles to watch you burn.”

And he warned us about getting sucked into studying and gaining knowledge at the expense of expressing love, “Beware you be not swallowed up in books! An ounce of love is worth a pound of knowledge.”

That’s a nice dose of John Wesley goodness!
